Strathpine
The 1.57 acre plant site at Wickham Street proved to be too small as it did not allow any room to store finished stock, so new land (152.75 acres) was purchased in November 1954 at Strathpine (adjacent to the Railway Station), to ultimately build a new Plant.
In mid-May, 1957, the contracts were signed for the construction of a $200,000 vehicle distribution centre at Strathpine. It was GMH's ninth plant in Australia. Until then, Eagers were the distributors of all Holden vehicles in Queensland.
Construction of a new Assembly Plant at Stratpine never eventuated, as Acacia Ridge was the preferred site when the new Plant was built, owing to proximity of the both the Standard and Narrow gauge rail lines, which gave access to rail transport throughout Queensland and to the South, without transhipment. The Strathpine site was only ever used as a storage area/distribution centre for vehicles, and some training activities.
The site was sold c1966.
